Stop advising Peter Obi to leave LP, party officer cautions supporters. Peter Obi
The Deputy National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), Ayo Olorunfemi, has expressed strong caution against individuals who are calling on the party's 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, to defect to another political party as a means to actualize his presidential ambition. Olorunfemi firmly stated that those who are urging Mr. Obi to leave the Labour Party in the hopes that he could secure victory in the 2027 presidential election on the platform of another party are operating under a sense of delusion.
During his appearance on Channels Television's Politics Today show, Olorunfemi used the term "delusional" to describe those individuals who are advocating for Obi to switch parties. He elaborated that some people tend to overrate themselves and their abilities, while failing to see the implications of such a move. Olorunfemi emphasized that genuine supporters of Peter Obi, whom he humorously referred to as the "Obidients", would not advise him to abandon the Labour Party.
In essence, Olorunfemi's stance is a strong warning against hasty decisions and quick fixes in pursuit of political ambitions. He believes that the loyalty and commitment of true supporters lie in remaining with the party that has provided a platform for their aspirations. It is a call to prioritize principles, integrity, and long-term vision over short-term gains and transient opportunities in the political landscape.
